Merchandise Stand OK but where else ?

Postby french fan on Fri Nov 16, 2018 5:00 pm

Roadworks 5 on CD, then the Glasgow Apollo '77 on CD and vinyl, very nice ! But all of them available only at the venues and nowhere else, as far as I know. Is the store on this website still helpful ?
It's certainly a very good thing to offer novelties to the fans, yet I hope you still have some of them next time you come to France... Already had the same problem last year, no more XL T-shirts.
Unless someone can tell me where else these records are available ?
Why play air guitar when you can play a real one ?

apologies to "french fan" but i have no specific reply to his post.

I just want to make a general comment about the state of this forum.

This thread has allegedly had over 1000 views yet nobody has replied (until now) - why is that?

Are there 1000 fans who look at these threads and say nothing? Are the stats due to autobots? Is if the same few people looking at the same messages over and over? What the hell is going on?

A couple of things occur to me - this forum is neglected by the band, the admin and the fans and if that does not change we are going to lose the forum altogether. If you are reading this, what are YOU going to do about it?

I am guilty of the above. I check out the site almost daily, but rarely post. I’m not a Facebook subscriber/participant, so I get most of my Wishbone Ash new on this site. I live in the USA, and attend at least one show when they tour within five or six hours of my home in Virginia. I attended shows in Rocky Mount, VA and Charlotte, NC from the most recent tour, and have purchased tickets for Annapolis, MD for the upcoming tour. I would hate for the site to disappear, and will try to make it a point to post more often in the future.

Fully agreed.
Beside the news every month, the feeling is that this forum is somewhat neglected for anyone who does not want to go facebook and that is more and more of us for reasons.
Would love to see Live in Glasgow and roadwork 5 at the shop on line.

For the 40th Anniversary they sold a beautiful shot glass with gold trim and a cool WA logo incorporated into the number 40. Hopefully there will be some similar products available next year honoring the 50th anniversary of Wishbone Ash.

I don't think we will ever get the forum back to what it once was. That is a good thing in many ways, as there were a lot of arguments.

But if we are considering where we might want to get to, we are certainly not there at the moment. i don't think it would take much, but a couple of suggestions are:
1. new posts show up on the main website. currently this is slow.
2. general updates from the band/pauline/kate goldsmith are posted on the forum as discussion topics somewhere, as well as the main site.
3. announcements, which seem to be a long list of spam, are not the first thing we see.
4. people forget about the past and give it another crack
5. everything else I can't think of right now....!

I do use facebook albeit reluctantly, but I do bemoan a couple of aspects - firstly there is no logical split of topics you have to go searching for things, and secondly why on Earth are they so many factions/splinter groups? And they all have the same things posted from their chosen sites, so if you are a fan of the main site and several of these splinter groups you see the same updates several times but there are different responses to each one. Talk about confusion in the market place!!!

I realise there is always going to be demarcation with the former bass player but we should aim to have one central point for WA fans to congregate on and quash some of these splinter groups which do exactly that, split the pack.

what we have done is eliminated conflict but that has been at the cost of eliminating everything else too, so it would be nice to get that back. The band are going strong, the 50th year approaches and there is a lot for us to celebrate and discuss. please, somebody, sort this forum out, now!

Yes, as shame about how this forum has gone so far downhill. I don't use FACEBOOK so....oh well.

Had not been up here in a while & just coming up I thought the site was dead at first. Coming to this Ash Talk subforum the entire thing looked to be hacked/all spam/trash. I realized eventually that those were all just the "announcements" that show up above the subforum posts, and those "announcements" are all garbage instead of real posts/announcements. Why are they even there still? They need to be deleted. Some date back 2 years!

I,too, read everything but rarely post.I'm also thinking of joining Facebook reluctantly just to see if I'm missing anything.I used to enjoy the way things were on here, even with all the strife. There were about a dozen or so who with little or no prodding could unleash such venom and vitriol, turn any post into tirades of pig-headedness ,lots of it so bigoted ,even libelous. But it used to make me laugh. At them.I'll make it my NY resolution to post more.
