WA Rockpalast Dec. 1st,1976

Postby dougr on Sat Feb 21, 2009 2:05 am

I have not seen many WA videos, but the best i have seen is the Rockpalast Dec. 1st, 1976,from Germany. The band is in really good form, and there are lots of songs from my favourite of theirs,New England, which was new at the time. This lineup includes, of course, Laurie Wisefield, who was one of the best things that ever happened to Ash. He does a really great job-well they all do.
There is older material from Argus,There's The Rub, and Locked In.
They have great fun with Started In Heaven,Finished With Rock and Roll, from Locked In, the album that supposedly went wrong(I think it is great).
This concert comes from what is my personal favourite time of the band-it is awesome!

The only place I`ve seen it is the clips on youtube. This thing is just screaming for a official release. Very little out there with Laurie and that`s a crime. The band just kicked butt during this time period.

Agreed! Laurie is a sublime guitarist. AP and LW was an awesome attack!

I haven´t seen them in Köln/germany. But i was on several other concerts on the 1976 german tour. GREAT. If you didn´t know the rockpalast serious was phantastic and they did every year on christmas a poll of the best titles of all bands they filmed in the years. 1976 won - you can believe it - WA with "Warrior" against very very good other bands. A highlight for me. They were flyin`high. P.S. I have the whole concert on dvd.

I have to agree with everything said here, as this is W/A at their pinnacle IMO. I have a VCD of this show that I can only watch on my computer, as neither of my 2 DVD players will play it. :( The quality is kind of poor, but still bareable. I also have a VHS tape recordin that has about 5, maybe 6 songs from this show, that I have absolutely worn out over the years. I would love to see this released in the future, along with other performances from the Mark II era.
It's so easy to get....caught in the game.

Heres what i got when i enquired at Rockpalast. Maybe if we all send an e mail it may happen, although in the present light getting all former members to agree may be a problem.
Chris.

Dear Chris,

thank you for your interest. The Rockpalast-DVD-production is in the
process of being restructured, so everything is getting ahead a bit
slow.
Concerning WISHBONE ASH: It is not always easy to get the artists
consent for a DVD-release of their Rockpalast-concerts. But we work
on it, because I would also personally like to have WISHBONE ASH
on the Rockpalast-DVD-series!

Best regards

Peter Ruechel
