Must Ash - Wishbone Ash Tribute Band - Otley, Ring of Bells

Postby andymustash on Wed Aug 04, 2010 3:39 pm

Hopefully we have gotten all the crap out of the way for 2010, - Stu's Heart operation and the death of my father.

We can now get back to having some serious fun gigging again. The first one of 2010 is on Tuesday 10th August at the Ring of Bells in sunny Otley, W Yorks.

It will be the first gigging outing for the Blackstar A30 and Stu's Prosonic, cant wait.

Any forum members plesae make yourselves known to us.

All the Best - Andy

Looking forward to first gig this year I seem to be fully recovered from my heart op ( and to you guitarists the new heart valve is NOT an EL34 !!! ) Had 3 hour practice friday and didn't faint and the lads carried my gear long may that last ! Any forum members who come tuesday can have free pint on me (just ask me).
All praise to the British NHS !!!!

It wasn't quite the triumphant return of Mustash to Otley, we made a few too many mistakes, but not bad for our first gig this year. Many thanks to all who turned up and clapped enthusiastically (and not just when we made a cobblers of a song!) We will be back on usual form next time we hope, as long as the backing track for Real Guitars doesn't vanish on me halfway through again....
Highlight has got to be Neil the bass mingling with the crowd in the middle of a number and standing on the furniture; and we didn't even play our Who cover song. I shall be watching out in case this tendency develops and there is an attempt to trash my drum kit at the end of a future gig.

So much for the touted debut of Andy's Blackstar amp, it blew up at the last practise before the gig...it suddenly all went quiet in the solo in the middle of Almighty Blues...Neil and I just thought it was Andy having a senior moment! Don't ask me what amp he replaced it with, I only hit things, but it sounded good and lit up with its name in bright blue lights like a nightclub sign.

Thank you for a really great night Guys. I think you are all amazing. Bearing in mind you AREN’T professionals, you all spent the day at your chosen work just like us AND taking into consideration you haven’t played together for over 8 months due to Stu’s illness, you put on a great evenings entertainment for us all, blasting out 20 or more of the Wishbone Ash greats. You don’t do any of this for any monetary gain what so ever but purely for the love of the music – a huge well done and lots of admiration from me. Brilliant!! Great company too – as always! What a wonderful way to spend a rainy Tuesday evening. Thank you so much!
