Thank you for this. Growing up in my teen years, we would use the term bebop to refer to any type of music that was pop-ish or disco. Therefore, having heard the name Be-Bop Deluxe, we were never even interested in listening to such a group. Even today, this still rings true, but I decided to give a listen to many of the recommendations in this thread this morning, and one I am stuck on right now is Be-Bop Deluxe. I am totally surprised by these guys. They are a damn good group. If only they wouldnt have had such a silly name, I may have gotten into them a long time ago.

This band kind of comes and goes with me, as I'm talkin' about Led Zeppelin here. Jimmy Page has had some amazingly good solos throughout the "Zep" catalogue to go along with some sloppy ones as well. Sticking with the good...the two (if I had to narrow it down to two) that stand out to me are NO Quarter (Live version) and the one that totally melts me, and is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever, is what he plays in Ten Years Gone. Stunning. 8-)
It's so easy to get....caught in the game.

A fantastic solo by Bryan Josh (Mostly Autumn) on their latest album 'Ghost Moon Orchestra' - Last track called 'Top of The World'.
Reminds me very much of Dave Gilmour....

Gotta include Stranglehold - Ted Nugent, plus the Double Live Gonzo version of Stormtroopin' just for its sheer intensity

All time favorite is Rod Price winding up Chateau Lafitte boogie '59 from the Rock 'n Roll Outlaws album for Foghat - second place goes to Robin Trower on Daydream - or how about Earl Slick on Cracked Actor from David Bowie Live ? :ugeek: :ugeek:

Probably Rory Gallagher on the Irish Tour '74 album with a blistering version of Walk On Hot Coals, then again
a certain gentleman didn't do do too badly on the 2nd solo on Sometime World on Argus by the original MK1
Wishbone Ash.

How about some slide solo's in there. Bad to the Bone by George Thorogood springs to mind.

Actually had this on my mind since Steve is coming to town to open for
Tom Petty later this summer...

Steve Winwood lays out some pretty darn good licks in the solo's on this song.
Especially the final solo...

Not many realize the before all that "arc of the diver" and other such commercial
stuff he is more known for he is an extremely talented axe man.
I guess when you have hung around with Hendrix, Clapton and many others
in the mid 60's you gotta have something to hang with!

And for a comparison I love this 1972 version and how he could
play this so FUBB is RIDICULOUS! :P ;)
Those glowering eyes!

The whole Traffic ensemble on this vid is CLASSIC!

This version with Clapton is pretty recent and excellent as well.
He let's Eric take that first intro and mid lead then pretty much
show's him how it's done in the final solo!
