rock and roll movies

Postby french fan on Sat Jun 12, 2010 9:55 am

Here are my 10 top rock and roll movies. What's your own classification ?
I am only talking about fiction movies - filmed concerts or documentaries should appear in another specific classification.

1. The Blues Brothers
2. Good Morning England
3. Crossroads (by Walter Hill, not the one with Britney Spears !)
4. The Rose
5. Pulp Fiction
6. The Commitments
7. Almost Famous
8. The Wall
9. Easy Rider
10. Tommy
Why play air guitar when you can play a real one ?

Most of what has been said so far, but I have to thrown in one as my favorite, number 1 on my list has to be Dazed and Confused. ;)

I can't believe I forgot Quadrophenia.
I used to come in from the pub every Friday night in my early 20s, put the video on and fall asleep after 15 minutes with a takeaway balanced on my chest (unless I'd got lucky and brought a young lady home with me*).

(*So that was EVERY Friday night, then).

Just a few more which might fit the category:-
Waynes World 1 and 2.
Tommy.
Woodstock (excellent Finale by JMH) also a blinder from Carlos and his boys.
Flash Gordon ----------music by Queen.
Blow up (showing my age now) featuring the Yardbirds playing "The Train Kept on rolling" with a very
young James Page on I`m certain bass.
One which is probably off thread,Central TV ,our local ITV channel did an article on the Birmingham
Grand Prix(round the city streets) and as a back drop they used Wishbone Ash "Time Was"which
lent itself very nicely indeed to the theme.

Can't work out what it was you said here, EJ, but looks like this was your Last Post... :? Now that would make a good snuff-rock movie title...Mick
